Alex Monroe

Alex Monroe grew up in the 1970’s Suffolk countryside in an old, crumbling house surrounded by wild, tangled nature. He enjoyed a childhood rich with freedom and imagination - roaming through fields, forests and rivers and constantly crafting all sorts of interesting (and sometimes mildly dangerous) tools and inventions to accompany him on his adventures!

After moving to London to pursue his dreams of becoming a punk (!) Alex turned his making skills to jewellery, training at the School of Art, Architecture and Design. Post graduation, Alex Monroe was established as a business in 1986 - with the intention of creating originally designed jewellery, which was made by hand and well priced. Jewellery made to be worn, loved and treasured - values which remain unchanged to this day.

Alex Monroe jewellery is all designed and hand made in England. The company shares our values for ethically sourced materials and use of non conflict diamonds and precious stones and metals.

Beautiful 22ct Gold Plated Bumble Bee Pendant £180

Our classic Bumblebee's baby brother. This necklace is a slightly smaller and lighter version of our classic.

He has a wing-span of 2.5cm and is 1.4cm long.

Elephant Stud Earrings £135

In 2004, Alex wanted to make pieces inspired by every corner of the world. A necklace of three marching Elephants was everyone’s favourite by far, so Alex has made some earrings to accompany it.

These earrings are a mix of solid sterling silver and 22ct gold plate. Each elephant measures 0.9 cm by 0.6 cm.

Baby Bee Bracelet £195

Beautiful bracelet featuring the slightly smaller Baby Bee, which will perfectly match either of the classic bee necklaces.

The bracelet is available in either solid sterling silver or 22ct gold plate. The bee measures 2.9 cm by 1.2 cm, the heart and flower are both 0.5 cm across. This bracelet is 7 inches long and has an additional 1 inch extension chain for easy adjustment.

The Crab measures approximately 0.9 cm from top to bottom and approximately 1.6 cm at its widest point. The Cheeky Crab has managed to steal a 1.75 mm Diamond.

Alex took inspiration for this particular piece during a stroll along the beachfront in Suffolk. The shell is hand engraved with the words 'I Must Go Down to the Sea Again, To the Lonely Sea and the Sky'.

The Shell measures approximately 2 cm from top to bottom and approximately 1.8 cm in width. This necklace comes on a fixed 28 inch chain. The necklace is available in solid sterling silver only.
